Controversial Mt Kenya lawyer Ndegwa Njiru is claiming that Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki is being “played” by President William Ruto and will not be his running mate in the 2027 General Election.
Taking to X, the vocal advocate wrote, “Prof. Kindiki is being played by Ruto, he will not be William Ruto’s running mate.”
The post, which has already sparked heated reactions online, comes just months after Njiru predicted that Kindiki would only serve three years in office before being replaced.
Njiru’s latest allegation suggests that despite public displays of unity, behind-the-scenes manoeuvres could see Ruto dumping Kindiki in favour of a more politically strategic partner capable of delivering the Mt Kenya vote solidly.
Since his appointment as Deputy President, Prof. Kindiki has worked tirelessly to build bridges in the region through numerous development projects and public engagements.
However, he continues to face stiff competition from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s camp, which still commands significant grassroots support in parts of the mountain.
Political analysts note that Mt Kenya remains a critical voting bloc that Ruto cannot afford to lose.
While some United Democratic Alliance (UDA) insiders insist Kindiki remains the favourite, persistent rumours of backroom deals and alternative considerations continue to dominate discussions.
Ndegwa Njiru, known for his bold and often controversial takes on national politics, has positioned himself as a sharp critic of certain alliances in the region.
His latest claim has divided netizens, with some praising him for “speaking the truth” while others accuse him of spreading propaganda meant to destabilise the current administration.
As the battle for 2027 intensifies, all eyes remain on how President Ruto will navigate the complex political dynamics in Mt Kenya.
Will Kindiki survive the cut, or will Ruto make a surprise move? Only time will tell. Leave your comments below, like, share and follow for more updates!
