What Gachagua is Allegedly Doing on Realising His Political Career Might be Ending

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) has accused DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua of shifting to unfortunate methods in a bid to salvage his allegedly dying political career.

COTU claims the former Deputy President is now badmouthing and attacking every leader he can think of, all in a bid to get back at President William Ruto.

The union says in his bid to punish Ruto for their political differences, Gachagua is risking causing serious national problems, but doesn't care because he believes it's the only way to safeguard his future.

“It is now increasingly evident that Mr Gachagua has embarked on a dangerous Samsonian mission where he seeks to destroy the fabric of the whole country simply because his political future looks bleak," COTU said on Wednesday.

"His theatrical performances of abusing and castigating every individual and institution perceived to have any form of association with the government of the day will not be taken kindly by Kenyan workers,"

The union was refering to Gachagua's Tuesday remarks, where he bashed COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, terming him a selfish power broker who is after his own personal gain.

He alleged that as millions of Kenyan workers remain unheard, Atwoli is busy entertaining the government he should be pressing to look into their affairs, something he has done over the years.

“The government and some labour unions like COTU are busy creating 50 billionaires and 55 million poor Kenyans in a span of three and a half years,” Gachagua, who was impeached in 2024, said.
